Wife and I were up in Orono, ME for a weekend and decided to try out The Family Dog. It had a cozy atmosphere and the staff were extraordinary. When I visit a new place I always ask if there's anything on the menu that they believe is done better there, than at other businesses. The guy out back heard me and walked up, giving us some suggestions on his favorite items to make. After we ordered and received our food (which was amazing), he walked over to us with an extra platter of fries. At first we thought this was just something they did for their customers, but then he put 3 different dipping sauces on the table stating he hand-made two of them. They were amazing. If anyone sees this review, I 100% suggest you get the ranch dipping sauce they make. When we come back next year, we will stop in again with friends!

I had the Angus burger and hubby had the steak and cheese sandwich. Sooooo good. The owner was personal and professional. Welcomed us and very friendly. We will be back and bring our out of town family and friends here.

I have never had a hot dog this good. The Vienna dog is good with the soft bun, but the toppings make this an experience. They do great american classics too. Pancakes, tenders, veggie burgers and chilli fries. If your around orono go visit. This will be a regular for me

Fun place to eat while visiting the college, definitely a friendly vibe. I got the mac and cheese hot dog with onion rings, both of which were awesome! The onion rings didn’t pull apart like so many others, making them perfect for dipping. I also got to try French fries and the breakfast burger, the fries were crispy and the burger patty was good quality. Definitely a place to come back to next time we’re in town.

Delicious food! The only thing that would've given 5 stars for service would've been having all our food (5 meals) come out at the same time. Two burgers were out 5 minutes after the 3 other meals. Timing was off; but the meals were fantastic! Great service, staff was very pleasant!

Fantastic food and atmosphere. We don’t get this way often and my wife was given a gift card years ago as a gift from the (now we know) previous owner. Come to find out it was more than 10 years ago when she got this and the “owner” had sold to the new owner yearssss ago. We both chuckled and he still honored it even though we explained we didn’t expect him to. He insisted and checked us out. We will make sure to get this way more often! Thanks again for going above and beyond when you don’t have to.

This place is great! The service is always friendly, and especially patient with kids which is really nice... Love the burgers and the kids are always happy!
